The GCYC is a youth choral program for 3rd through 7th graders. Students will learn multiple techniques of choral music in weekly rehearsals, work with choral guest artists, take a field trip and perform in a Winter concert.
This is the theme of the program this year and the inspiration for their music. Students will learn music styles from all over the world and how they influenced Appalachian music and vice versa. Different guests artists who specialize in different styles of music will come work with the students and teach them more about their culture.
Thanks to a generous grant from Chorus America we only require a 1 time membership fee of $30 per student. Scholarships are available. Email jill@grackentucky.org.
- Student must be in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th grade
- Student should be able to attend rehearsal every Tuesday evening (full schedule below)
- Student's do not need prior experience, just a commitment to learning and an appreciation for music
