Appalachian Foodways

In this "foodie" class, participants will learn the dynamic process by which foodways emerge from cultural contexts and how they express and embody traditional aesthetics, beliefs and values of Appalachia. After a brief introduction to the concepts in foodways of Eastern Kentucky, participants will learn to cook delicious dishes with local, farm-to-table ingredients. Expert Chef Judy Gurnee will have you chopping, sautéing, and serving culinary masterpieces that you'll eat alongside your classmates at the end of the evening! Wine and beer will be available for purchase during the event.
