Tiara Johnson

Specializes in Creative Non-Fiction

About: Tiara Johnson is a creative writer, educator, and emerging workshop facilitator whose work explores memory, identity, healing, and the power of personal story. A Mount Sterling native and Brown University alumna, Tiara’s passion for writing began in her Kentucky roots and continues through her work with youth, community storytelling, and trauma-informed expression. She has taught and mentored high school students in creative writing at SCAPA Lafayette, and is currently developing a community-based workshop, The Art of Personal Story, which blends creative nonfiction with personal growth and recovery. Tiara’s background in human services and peer support informs her inclusive, emotionally attuned approach to writing and teaching. Tiara is currently pursuing an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services at Maysville Community & Technical College, where she will earn her Adult Peer Support Specialist Certification in April 2025. Her creative work spans poetry, narrative nonfiction, and flash memoir. She is a recipient of the YoungArts Merit Award in Creative Writing and a proud alumna of the Governor’s Scholars Program of Kentucky, where she studied creative writing in 2011. Tiara believes that storytelling is not only an art form—but a way to rise, reclaim, and reimagine.
